Data Breaches

What happens in the unlikely event of a data breach?

  • We are trained

  • We have a plan

  • We will notify you

All of our staff have been trained thoroughly about data security and data breaches. We also have a Data Breach Response Plan in place, which outlines the processes and remedies available in case of a data breach. We are governed by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (the Act) and subject to the Australian Privacy Principles (the APPs).

Pursuant to the Act, we are required to notify you and the Australian Information Commissioner if we suspect that a data breach (relating to your Personal Information) has occurred and there is real risk of serious harm to you as a result of the breach.

Even if we do not believe there is a real risk of serious harm to you due to a breach, we may decide to notify you anyway as part of our commitment to taking privacy seriously.
